Chapter Text

The Great Hall – 22 October 2019
To the surprise of many (except, of course her brother Al), the brave and fearless daughter of Harry Potter got sorted into Slytherin house.Outwardly, Lily Luna Potter was every bit the embodiment of a noble, risk-taking Gryffindor, but what most people didn’t realise was that behind every brave endeavour she embarked upon and each risk she took, there was a wellspring of cunning, a deep reservoir of carefully calculated planning, and a torrent of desire to look after her own. What she wasn’t all that great at, however, was keeping her composure. As evidenced by her shriek of delight on reading the first two lines of the letter that the tawny owl had dropped right onto her plate of French toast one Tuesday morning before Transfigurations.Once she’d read the letter through twice and Vanished the syrup and icing sugar from the parchment and her fingers, she took a large sip of hot chocolate from her marshmallow-filled cup (she had inherited the Potter sweet tooth), and then began to strategise. It wasn’t going to be easy, because despite the fact that her dad was the one she was trying to help, he was the very person who was going to be least enthusiastic about her plan… if, by least enthusiastic, one meant entirely dead set against it.She cast her eyes over the parchment once more, smiling shrewdly into her cup as she chewed on a marshmallow.
Dear Ms Potter,

Thank you for your proxy application for Mr Harry James Potter. The team at Desperately Seeking Magic Ltd have reviewed Mr Potter’s application, and we are delighted to confirm that he has been shortlisted…
Yes, Lily thought, taking another gulp of her rich, dark, sweet—perfect—hot chocolate, her plan was coming along very nicely.
