Chapter Text
Draco mused to himself with trepidation. For some reason, the spectre had returned—that he had vanquished a few weeks prior after he confronted it his private bathing chambers. He had defeated it for the first time, and it left without further incident. He had the secret to its power and its influence. Anger defeated it. Draco’s anger gave him strength. After his latest encounter, Draco had thought long and hard about its origin. It was a terrible and demonic thing from another world, but something he had conjured up with a form of forbidden magic—back when he was a child. He had wanted someone to practice with, to hone his skills, and IT was born from his psyche. He couldn’t believe that such a thing could exist and yet here it was, and it had spoken to him in his dreams last night to announce its return. For whatever reason, Draco had no clue.As he walked down a halls of his house of Slytherin, he read and mentally recited incantations of yet another forbidden magic. He wanted to rid himself of the spectre once and for all, and without telling anyone about it. If anyone knew he had summoned such a creature, he would be in huge trouble, and may even be punished, banished, or worse. The dark halls hid his focus as he walked and read, alone. His father’s journals on the subject had the solution he sought, he knew it. His father knew of such forbidden magic and had written about it privately, Draco stealing it. He flipped through its pages. There was a lot to read, with symbols and diagrams, things he had no clue about.Draco knew people who could, probably, decipher fully what was in his father’s journals, but he didn’t want to take the chance of anyone finding out what he had done. Then he noticed a page had been rip out of the journal, quite violently. Bits of the page remained, but nothing of any recognizable notation. He had no clue what anything of it meant and slammed the journal shut, the force echoing through the empty chamber he resided. He felt frustrated and grit his teeth, but quickly calmed himself. You have no chance, Malfoy, came a whispery voice, you’ll never be rid of me.“Shut up!” Draco said to no one, but he did swing around hoping to pin point its origin. But had the voice been in his head like the dream he had two nights ago? “Leave me alone!”There came a low chuckle. You summoned me, and now you’re stuck with me. Accept me. Our latest encounter was evident that you can still be of entertainment to me.“I’m no one’s toy!” Malfoy said. “You helped me when I needed it, now you’re of no use.”
Surely you jest, I am more useful now than you can imagine. You still have issues with Harry Potter. I can help you beat him, teach him a lesson, and humiliate him like he has you…
Malfoy gulped. He felt ill-at ease with the sound of this long-time spectre with its voice that only he could hear. He wanted it gone. And he hoped his father’s journals would do it. Something inside his father’s notes had to help, but he needed to do this on his own.Fear was his motivation.“S-shut up!” Draco stammered. “I’ll do it myself.”Draco then stormed off, leaving the chamber behind. However, he could still hear a creepy laughter echo in the distance, making his skin crawl.
